Description

Classroom Sessions

Confined Space Entry: This confined space class will cover heavy vehicle stabilization, extrication, and scene management.  There is a heavy emphasis in the confined space, scene stabilization, and the rescue techniques used to resolve the emergency. We will also cover the integration of Hazmat, Safety officers, and command into the rescue scene.

Incident Case Studies: The goal of every hazmat incident should be to favorably change the outcome without becoming part of the problem. Two case studies will show how a simple problem-solving process was used to prevent a rescue situation at one incident involving a MC 331 and another incident response with a rescue situation in collaboration with a rescue team involving a non-spec Heated Material Cargo Tank Trailer was successful.

Field Exercises & Drill

Field Exercise 1: Conducted using a MC 331 cargo training trailer onsite. This training focuses on familiarization with various valves and fittings on cargo trailers, and potential leak points.

Field Exercise 2: Conducted using a DOT 406 cargo trailer provided onsite by Sunoco LP. This training focuses on familiarization with various valves and fittings on cargo trailers, and potential leak points.

Field Exercise 3: Conducted using a MC 338 cargo trailer provided onsite by Kenan Advantage. This training focuses on familiarization with various valves and fittings on cargo trailers, and potential leak points.

Field Exercise 4: Conducted using a DOT 407 cargo trailer provided onsite by Groendyke Transport. This training focuses on familiarization with various valves and fittings on cargo trailers, and potential leak points.

Drill: The hands-on portion of this class will begin with a size-up and hazard mitigation. The students will briefly work through stabilization and monitoring the scene. The class will set up the rescue or retrieval systems using available high point directional help. Entering the trailer, the victim/patient will be packaged for removal. Lastly, the victim/patient and the rescuers will be removed and placed in de-con or an area of safety.
