RE:     Cold Weather/Ice – Oil Spill Response Training

********2023-02-03 Classes have been canceled **********

THIS DOES NOT REGISTER YOU FOR THE NO SPILLS CONFERENCE

Dear First Responder:

Canadian National is pleased to extend an invitation to attend the Cold Weather/Ice – Oil Spill Response Training in Traverse City, MI. as a part of  the No Spills Conference. This is training prior to the conference and your registration does not include your registration to the No Spills Conference. We will be holding three, one day duration courses approximately 8 hours to accommodate as many responders as possible. PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR DATE THAT YOU WISH TO BE IN ATTENDANCE.

This training opportunity will provide classroom and hands-on training covering the unique tactical, safety and recovery options that can occur with cold weather-related incidents.  Students will review and practice the safe and effective response to an oil release in sub-freezing conditions.

The training dates are February 13-15 with the class size limited to 50 people.  If you would like to attend, please sign up on the TRANSCAER web page, http://transcaer.com and look for the link under State of Michigan, February events.

Please be aware that the available training spots are on a first come first serve basis.  We will attempt to ensure that each agency will have a spot in one of the classes.

Classes will be held from 0900 to 1700 with registration and coffee starting 0900.

Students will be in the classroom for the morning reviewing response concepts, strategies and reviewing case studies.

Lunch will be provided.

The afternoon session will be on the ice utilizing various hand tools and equipment.  Warm clothing suitable for on ice conditions is a requirement along with a USCG approved PFD (Mustang suit, float coat, work vest etc.).

If you know of any neighboring fire departments or mutual aid partners who would also benefit from this training, please pass along this information.

Canadian National looks forward to working with your departments and agencies toward our common goal of improving public safety.

Sincerely,

Ken Collins
