The Story of SAM: The Safety Squirrel

Deep in the heart of a big, bustling forest, where train tracks wind through the trees and trucks roll along the highway, lived a clever, curious, and safety conscious squirrel named SAM. 

Unlike other squirrels who spend their days simply gathering acorns, SAM has a special mission—teaching others how to stay safe!

SAM’s name stands for something very important: 

Safety Always Matters.

SAM’s Safety Adventures: A TRANSCAER Activity Book

Every day, SAM works hard to teach communities and kids about chemicals, transportation, and safety:

Railroad Safety – “Always stop, look, and listen before crossing the tracks! Trains are faster than they look and can’t stop quickly.”

Chemical Safety – “See a strange container or spill? Don’t touch! Find an adult and call for help.”

Emergency Preparedness – “Know your emergency numbers and always listen to first responders. They’re here to help you and your community!”

Through fun activities, SAM teaches kids that safety isn’t just for adults — it’s for everyone! Whether they are playing near train tracks, seeing trucks carrying important supplies on the highway, or learning about first responders, SAM helps everyone understand that making safe choices can save lives.

SAM’s most important message is: No matter where you go, what you do, or who you are—Safety Always Matters!
