Deep in the heart of a big, bustling forest, where train tracks wind through the trees and trucks roll along the highway, lived a clever, curious, and safety conscious squirrel named SAM.
Unlike other squirrels who spend their days simply gathering acorns, SAM has a special mission—teaching others how to stay safe!

Activity/Coloring Book Requests
Request Form
Request free copies of Safety Sam’s activity and coloring books, along with boxes of crayons, for your community event or school today!
Eligibility is limited to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, fire departments, emergency management agencies, and elementary schools with a mission to educate children and communities about chemical safety, hazardous materials transportation safety, and emergency preparedness. To ensure equitable distribution of grant-funded materials, only one request per community, city, or county may be fulfilled during a calendar year.

Organizations may request up to 100 coloring books, 100 boxes of crayons, and 100 stickers per calendar year. Availability of materials is subject to federal grant funding provided through the PHMSA Community Safety Grant Program. Requests may be limited, delayed, or declined based on available funding and inventory. Organizations with a demonstrated need for additional materials may contact TRANSCAER for consideration; however, approval cannot be guaranteed.
