Description
Classroom Session
Training on chorine chemical properties related to emergency response scenarios.
Learn about railroad operations, hazards, and safety rules.
Rail hazmat safety and emergency response procedures are reviewed.
Field Exercises
Hands on learning on chlorine gas cylinder and rail car isolation kits (A,B and C) for standard and next generation (dual valve system) assemblies.
Learn about potential leak scenarios for chlorine rail tank car valves and fittings and how to mitigate those leaks.
Important Details
Required Safety Gear: No equpiment is needed
Requesting TRANSCAER supported trainers for both days.
Note Birmingham (MI) FD will be the host. They are proposing the following days of the training:
- Target date would be May 12th and 13th, 2026.
- Second option would be June 9/10 2026
Attendees will be primarily members of the primary Oakland County (MI) HAZMAT teams
