This workshop is designed to enhance the capabilities of emergency responders and emergency management personnel in the planning, preparedness, and effective response to incidents involving Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Participants will gain foundational and applied knowledge critical to managing LNG emergencies, with emphasis on the unique physical and chemical characteristics of LNG that influence response strategies.The workshop will also draw on lessons learned from case studies to reinforce best practices and risk-informed decision-making.
Description
The workshop will consist of an indoor classroom session, an outside demonstration and an optional hands-on live fire training.
PPE: Full structural firefighting gear is required for the optional hands-on live fire training. No SCBA is required. If students do not have structural firefighting gear, a limited number of sets of gear will be available on site for students to use.
Key topics will include:
- LNG’s role as a transportation fuel
- Hazard recognition
- Response and mitigation techniques
- Community risk assessments
- Coordination of multi-agency operations
Important Details
Limited to 30 attendees per session.
Please be at the site by 7:30 AM for registration. Class will begin promptly at 8:00 AM EST. Depending on registration and training needs, the training schedule may be adjusted prior to event.
