  • TRANSCAER Challenge Coin (at the end of each session)

NOTE: You only need to register to attend one 4-hour session. Each 4-hour session will include hourly rotations that take attendees through each of the topics outlined below in the course description.

Classroom Sessions

Rail Transportation: An introduction to the railroad industry, BNSF specific information is presented in limited areas only. This is an interactive presentation and open to questions, comments, and feedback from all attendees. A classroom syllabus will be given to each student to keep and use for future reference.

Ethanol Emergency Response: An overview of ethanol and ethanol-blended fuels, including Chemical and Physical Characteristics of Ethanol and Hydrocarbon Fuels, Fire Fighting Foam Principles, General Health and Safety Considerations, and emergency response.

Field Exercises

Field Exercise 1: Conducted using railroad specific training trailers or one of BNSF’s training tank cars. This training focuses on familiarization with various valves and fittings on pressure and general service tank cars. Leaks can be simulated on most of the equipment so attendees can obtain experience in the appropriate response methods used to address them.

Field Exercise 2: Conducted using a DOT 407 cargo trailer provided onsite by Groendyke Transport. This training focuses on familiarization with various valves and fittings on cargo trailers, and potential leak points.

Field Exercise 3: Conducted using a MC 331 cargo trailer provided onsite by Farmers Oil Company, Inc. This training focuses on familiarization with various valves and fittings on cargo trailers, and potential leak points.

Detalles importantes

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT required for hands-on workshop. Solid shoes, preferably high-top boots are recommended, and full-length pants are required. No sandals are permitted. Gloves are optional but recommended. Depending on the location of the training equipment in a rail yard facility, hard hats and safety glasses may be required.

Class size is limited to 60 per session.

Be onsite 30 MINUTES prior to each session start time for check-in/registration. Note: Depending on registration and training needs, the training schedule may be adjusted prior to event.
