Organizers of the Continuing Challenge Workshop also recognized TRANSCAER® (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response) in honor of the organization’s 30th Anniversary of providing assistance to communities and first responders.
Buccolo, general manager of the Central California Traction Company, serves as TRANSCAER’s Region IV Coordinator, which supports emergency response on the West Coast, and served as an Executive Committee Member. He has provided his hazmat and rail expertise and leadership to TRANSCAER® for close to 30 years.
He is an instructor in railroad hazardous materials shipping and emergency response, a first responder and a hazmat tank car technician.
This is not the first time that Dave has been recognized for his outstanding work and achievements. In 2009 and 2010 Dave received the TRANSCAER® Chairman's Award, and he is also a three-time recipient of the Regional Achievement Award.
“Dave’s dedication to helping safeguard communities and making sure that first responders are prepared has been instrumental in making TRANSCAER® the world-class safety program that it is today,” said TRANSCAER’s National Task Group Chairman Frank Reiner, president of The Chlorine Institute. “We are grateful for his contributions over the years and are very proud to have him on our team.”
Dave began working for the railroads in 1969 to pay for college, and he plans on retiring this year after devoting his career to railroading and the safe transportation of hazardous materials. He has been married to Marie for 44 great years and has three children and 3 grandchildren.
In addition to spending more time with his family, Dave will also be pursuing one of his great passions - cooking great BBQ on his BBQ cooking rig.
